Greetings, my name is Nyalong Chuol and I will be one of the representatives for South Sudan, the nation's newest country in Africa. I am honored to be apart of the Miss Africa Washington pageant this year, I am a full time student and currently teach pre kindergarten and work at Nike. My lifelong goal is to become an obstetrician gynecologist and own my own private practice. An OB/GYN in other words is the doctor that delivers babies, I am a very happy and caring person I think it'd be an amazing fit. I am the last of 5, my family immigrated to the United States over 20 years ago because of the war. My platform is empowering the youth, I want to bring awareness to the issues that the Sudanese community faces here in the US with gun violence, incarceration and much more. With my platform I want to bring the conversation to the table and most importantly some change, such as educational outreach programs and mentorships. I plan to connect the youth with mentors who are able to share their stories and the lesson they've learned growing up. My main focus is the youth because they are the future, I would love to help keep them out of the streets and jails so that they can become effective members of society. I believe through education and sports they can truly reach their full potential. My secondary focus is awareness to the war back home and unity, Africa is easily divided because of the tribalism my county included. I want to unite different kinds of Sudanese people through events in connection with the South Sudanese Youth Committee. I won't be able to make change on my own, as I embark on this journey I hope you all are able to join me! Thank you kindly Miss South Sudan.
